What’s New? This Nikon Z6III is the successor to the infamous Nikon Z6 II, and brings plenty of useful and intelligent upgrades to the series. It doesn’t stop at the fancy new 24.5MP partially-stacked CMOS sensor–– the Z6 III also offers more precise autofocus, professional-level 6K internal raw video, pre-capture at up to 120 fps, and a smooth, bright, colorful EVF.
Third-Gen Nikon Z. The Z6III is part of Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount system, which gives you exceptional image quality and optical design in a compact build. This system’s inner diameter is larger than the F mount, allowing for more advanced optics and lenses, while the 16mm flange distance is shorter than the F mount, which makes for markedly slimmer body designs. Z-mount cameras are only compatible with Z-mount lenses, and Z-mount lenses only work with Z-mount cameras.
Unmatched Image Quality. The 24.5MP partially-stacked CMOS sensor paired with the EXPEED 7 processing engine provides speeds up to 10x faster than the Z6 II, along with impressive autofocus speeds, reduced rolling shutter distortion, burst shooting rates, a high buffer capacity, and fluid video performance.
493-Point Phase-Detect Autofocus. The EXPEED 7 processor unlocks Nikon’s 493-point phase-detection autofocus system to recognize fast and accurate focusing performance, while also benefiting from the high-speed communication of the Z interface. Featuring the highest native ISO yet in a Z-series camera at ISO 64000, the Z6 III offers Starlight mode to help enhance low-light conditions for astrophotography and concerts. Alongside these autofocus features, the Z6 III also includes 3D Tracking AF, which pairs perfectly with subject detection to hone in on fast-moving subjects, and three Dynamic-Area AF modes with a variety of focus ranges designed to capture a wide range of moving subject types.
Portrait Perfect Performance. Building on the new partially-stacked sensor, the Z6 III packs in plenty of features to produce exceptional portrait photography. Portrait mode will produce photos enhancing natural skin texture, Rich Tone Portrait mode produces more vivid results while still capturing detailed complexion, Flat Monochrome mode produces gentle gradations that result in soft, monochrome photos, Deep Tone Monochrome mode hones in on darker tones and brighter highlights, and Skin Softening can be used to slightly blur the skin on up to three subjects in frame.
Pixel Shift Technology. Best used with landscapes and architecture shots, the Z6 III uses pixel shift technology to produce high-resolution photos by slightly shifting the image sensor between shots. You can select between 4 and 32 shots per image to combine together in port using NX Studio, in turn producing more detailed photos with impressive resolutions, texture, and color.
Internal 6K60 and 4K 120 Recording. Equally as capable of video as it is photo, this camera is capable of recording 6K60p video with continuous shooting, while 4K and Full HD recording can be achieved in a variety of frame rates including 4K recording at up to 120p and Full HD recording at 240p for slow-motion.
Exceptional EVF and 170° LCD. The sensor-processor combo has allowed this camera to generate the brightest electronic viewfinder of any previous Nikon camera! At 4000 nits, it’s 33% brighter than the Z9, while its 5,760,000 dot resolution is the first of its kind for a Nikon EVF. It features a high frames-per-second function that automatically improves the EVF’s refresh rate to 120 fps. The back side of the Z6 III provides a 170° vari-angle LCD that allows you to view and monitor your work from a variety of positions.
Design and Connectivity. The overall design of this camera results in a smaller, lighter body with premium weather sealant for use in less-than-ideal weather and climate. It features dual-card slots for CFExpress Type-B and SD cards, but can also hold a standard XQD cards! As for physical connection options, you’ll find a standard 3.5mm jack for audio monitoring, a full-size HDMI port for video output, and a USB-C port for data transfer. Wi-fi and Bluetooth are available for wireless file transfer, and for the first time, the Z6 III also features direct-to-cloud connectivity.
